For others who feel drawn to this work, but aren't prepared to become Trainers or prefer to learn independently, this book will give you all the information you'll need to be a Transition Guide for a friend or loved one. It would be helpful if you had another person or a small group to study with. I will be adding a newsletter in the future with tips and stories and scripts from others as they come to me from Transition Guides in all stages of development. This is after all a fairly new field within end-of-life caregiving. It's a learning curve for all of us. Diane is available by appointment for consultation for a fee, should you need to talk to someone who understands what you're talking about. Try starting a study group of others interested in learning this skill, order books for the group at a discount, and split the cost of an occasional conference call with Diane.

Since my first web site BeyondtheVeil.net came online in 1996, I have been responding to emails from people all over the world who are seeking answers to their questions about who we are and why we are here, is there a God, is there Heaven and Hell, is there an Afterlife? They ask not because they think I have definitive answers, but because I have a different perspective as an NDEr. I have shared these emails on the web site in Seekers Open Forum over the years to help others with similar questions . Now I have put them into eBook form to make them available to more people. At a later date, I hope to publish the material in paper book form so more people can have access to it.

Journals

I created these journals, and hand assemble them to order, as a tool to help Transition Guides open up conversations that may be painful or sad or difficult for clients/patients. It will ease their dying process and bring them peace while working through some of the unresolved issues in their lives with their loved ones or themselves before their death. These journals will later become family keepsakes to help new family members learn about the lives of those who came before them. The Remembrance Journal may be brought out on anniversaries and read by family members to honor their loved one's memories.

I offer the following suggestions as journal subjects:

The heavy cover paper has strands of fiber running through it. These colors are currently available but availability depends on my supplier's supply.

Soul Baskets

Soul Baskets were birthed out of Maria Dancing Heart's book, The Last Adventure of Life: Sacred Resources for Transition. Some of her favorite tools for relaxation and healing have been included in these "baskets" to help you and your family and friends move through the transition process with as much grace and ease as possible.

The Rev. Maria Dancing Heart Hoaglund is a seasoned hospice worker who compiled The Last Adventure of Life in 2005. Born and bred in Japan she has a unique cross-cultural foundation and universal perspective. She is a graduate of Yale and the Chicago Theological Seminary. She has served as a parish minister, then as a hospice spiritual and bereavement counselor for many years. She is a broad-based spiritual counselor who bridges traditional religion with the new spirituality being birthed around the world. She has a passion for healing and for world peace.

In keeping with the East/West flavor of Dancing Heart's book, each collection of gifts is presented in a furoshiki, a beautiful piece of cloth in which the Japanese have long wrapped special gifts and belongings.

Music for meditation and practicing the Art of Conscious Dying

 

The suggestions listed below may be helpful to some people who have a hard time relaxing and letting go. For others, nature sounds, classical music or White Noise may be preferred to help them stop the incessant clamour of thoughts or the stream of picture images rushing through their heads. Focusing on the sounds may help some people stop paying attention to their thoughts or picture images so they can go deeper and begin to do the inner work they need to do in prepation for their transition. Some people may prefer no music or sounds at all. The only way to find out what works best for a particular person is to try different methods.
